BJP says its popularity is soaring in State

By Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, Jan 5 The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Assam on Sunday claimed that the soaring popularity of the saffron party has made the ruling Congress panicky.

Party spokesperson Rupam Goswami said that the Congress is getting paranoid of its prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi as well as with the BJP itself.

The recent election in five states shows the popularity of the BJP in India. The people of India are fed up of the Congress rule as it has become synonymous with corruption. And we are sure that this election result is going to influence the voters of Assam, said Goswami pointing out that in the last GMC and Sonowal Kachari Autonomous Council elections, the BJP had shown good results.

Goswami further said that the popularity of the BJP was growing and in both urban and rural areas, the people have started showing confidence in the BJP. People have realized that the only party that can bring transparency and accountability in administration is the BJP. After Sarbananda Sonowal took over as the president of the State BJP, people in large numbers are joining the party. Many from the Congress and other parties have also joined our party, said Goswami.

According to Goswami, the people of Assam are frustrated with Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi as he has failed to meet their aspirations. Goswami also mentioned that the electorate has also lost faith in the AGP as it too could not fulfil the expectations of the people.

Tarun Gogoi has never bothered about the common people or the issues of the State. As far as the AGP is concerned, though it was formed out of an agitation whose main issue was resolving the foreigners problem, they could not resolve the problem and people of Assam have rejected them, said Goswami reflecting that the BJP-ruled States have met the expectations of the people.
