SHILLONG, Jan 25 Congress has alleged that the BJP-led NDA Government was trying to make the country a Hindu nation subverting the Constitution.
Secularism is the key word in the Constitution but the BJP-led Government at the Centre is trying to totally subvert it by using the hardline Hindu groups like the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and openly wanted people from various religions to convert to Hinduism, AICC General Secretary V Narayanasamy alleged here recently.
The best example is the vandalising of the churches in Delhi which is seen as encouraging the communal elements by the BJP Government at the Centre, he said.
Coming down heavily on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Narayanasamy said, Unfortunately the Prime Minister who has been talking about the development agenda is silent on the communal agenda.
When the issue was raised in Parliament in the Rajya Sabha for almost 15 days, the Rajya Sabha was paralysed for the failure of the Prime Minister to address the issue, he said.
He further alleged the several promises which had been made by the NDA Government and Narendra Modi, none of them have been implemented so far.
Narayanasamy said Congress would soon launch agitation against the Centre for its anti-farmer and anti-tribal policies.
This government has become anti-farmer and anti-tribal. We would have comprehensive agitation programmes against this government at the block and district levels for amending the two Acts (Land Acquisition Act and Tribal Rights Act), he said.
They are trying to dilute the Tribal Rights Act by bringing an amendment saying that the tribal lands can be acquired by the government. So they are taking away the rights of the tribals, he said. PTI
