GUWAHATI, Dec 25 - The State BJP today marked the 96th birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. A special event was held at the State headquarters at Hengrabari here.
Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, State BJP general secretary and MLA Pallab Lochan Das, MLA Prasanta Phukan and others were present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Sarma said Vajpayee commanded respect and affection of people across political spectrum.
Sarma called upon the BJP cadres to follow the ideals of Vajpayee who had contributed a lot for the development of Assam. �We all must try to follow the examples set by him,� he said. A number of farmers were also felicitated by the minister during the event.
