By Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, March 27 The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Sunday submitted a memorandum to the Chief Election Commissioner requesting necessary action against the violators of the model code of conduct in the State.

In the memorandum the party has mentioned the names of four Congress candidates including those of ministers Himanta Biswa Sarma (Jalukbari) and Rockybul Hussain (Samuguri) as flouting all the norms of election. The other two Congress candidates against whom the BJP has brought the allegation of violation of poll norms are Suresh Bora (Barhampur) and Sushanta Buragohain (Thowra).

The BJP said that many Congress candidates have been violating the model code of conduct since day one of the poll process by taking out huge processions during filing of nomination which had thrown life out of gear as well as caused injury to public.

In violation of the model code of conduct, many Congress candidates have been spending huge amounts of money, alleged the BJP.
