BJP MLAs criticise state ministers

By Staff reporter

GUWAHATI, Dec 24 Members of Assam Legislative Assembly representing the Bharatiya Janata Party today alleged that the Ministers provided vague and incorrect replies to issues raised during the winter session of the Assembly that concluded on Friday.

At a press conference organized at Guwahati Press Club, senior BJP leader and BJP MLA Prasanta Phukan (Dibrugarh) along with four other sitting MLAs including Dilip Moran (Doomdooma), Jadav Chandra Deka (Kamalpur), Manoranjan Das (Patacharkuchi) and Ranjit Kumar Das (Sorbhog) flayed the ruling Government for misleading the House with incorrect information.

They also tried to corner the Congress Ministers for not giving due weightage to the issues concerning the schemes of Public Works Department, Panchayat and Rural Development Department and Agriculture.

During the Assembly session, I had raised certain questions regarding construction of roads under PMGSY in my constituency but the Rural Development Minister failed to provide authentic information. I was upset with the way the minister provided us with incorrect information, Manoranjan Das, MLA of Patacharkuchi said.

Prasanta Phukan of Dibrugarh said that to many of his questions raised in the House, the Congress Ministers tried to get away by merely stating that the details had been sought from the respective departments.

How can any responsible Minister say that they were waiting for details from departments when we send our questions a month before the session of the House? he said.

Phukan also expressed his dissatisfaction over the replies on issues like big dam, corruption in various Government department as well as the theft cases in satras of the state.
