SIVASAGAR, Aug 9 - The Ujani Asom Muslim Kalyan Parishad has reacted sharply to some comments made by BJP leader Shiladitya Deb. The BJP leader recently said that the Ajan Peer had come from Iraq and therefore Assam should not be considered as the land of Sankar-Ajan.
In a press statement, UAMKP central committee president Saukat Latif and chief secretary Ahidur Jaman Choudhury said, These leaders should know that Assams history is the history of immigration. Great souls like Chau-lung Sukafa, Ajan Fakir had come to ancient Pragjyotishpur, Kamrup or Assam from foreign countries and they laid the foundation of a great Assamese community, irrespective of caste, creed and religion.
These leaders with little knowledge about Assam, are conspiring to begin a communal clash, they stated. The BJP has planned to divide the pious land of Assam by playing communal politics, but the UAMKP will not tolerate any such steps which may create disharmony, threatened the leaders.
