BJP is RSSs political arm, alleges CPM

By Correspondent

AGARTALA, Oct 11 - Branding BJP as RSSs political arm, CPM general secretary Sitaram Yechuri on Sunday alleged the NDA-led Government has been pursuing a dream to make India a Hindu nation.

While addressing an anti-communalism programme at Rabindra Bhavan here, he said the Saffron party has been trying to turn the secular-democratic- republic nation, which was Indias unique identity, into a Hindu country ever since it came to power.

Citing example of BJPs communal card, he said slogans of love jihad, ghar wapsi and beef ban are aimed at triggering communal tension.

Since the Bihar election is doing the round, the BJP has been trying to consolidate its political goal by playing a communal card, he said, adding that the government is acting at the behest of RSS.

Poking fun at the visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Cabinet colleagues to the RSS leaders recently, Yechuri said, They have produced themselves before the RSS leadership like those people who appear before a court with report cards. And, RSS leaders have given them pass mark. It means BJP is the political arm of the RSS, he added.

Yechuri also blamed the Congress for not protecting the countrys secular value. Although the Congress is in favour of secularism, its wrong economic policy has angered the common people. And, the Saffron party by banking on the peoples sentiment came to power, he opined.

Branding Modi as ambassador of Facebook, Yechuri said Modiji has made 29 foreign trips in just 15 months when the common people are facing problems due to sky-rocketing price rise.

Around 55 per cent people living in rural area are not having toilet facility while prices of pulses have gone up to Rs 200 per kg, he said. Yechuri appealed to the people to come together to protect the countrys secular values at any cost.

Chief Minister Manik Sarkar, while addressing the convention, sharply criticised the BJP-led Government for its failure to bring Acche Din.

The Modi-led Government has been trying to shift the peoples focus on burning issues; instead it is fuelling communal tension across the nation. Budgetary allocation in welfare schemes like ICDS and RD has been reduced substantially. How come Acche Din will come, he asked.
