BJP hits back at Mizoram CM on Hindutva remarks

By Correspondent

AIZAWL, Oct 23 - Mizoram unit of BJP today rebutted Chief Minister Lal Thanhawlas statement that the primary objective of the BJP was to convert people to Hinduism and make India a Hindustan.

The CM clearly has a misconception about the BJPs aims and objectives, which are developing India, preserving and respecting every culture and religion and protecting minorities from communal violence, a BJP statement said.

Chief Minister Lal Thanhawla on Friday said though yoga was a good exercise, its ultimate aim was to convert people to Hinduism, which was also the objective of BJP.

Within just two years under the leadership of Narendra Modi, India has witnessed growth which had never been witnessed under Congress decades of rule, BJP said in a statement.

On the contrary, the Congress partys objective is to push the people into extreme poverty and make us a nation of beggars. The success of Congress objective is clearly visible in Mizoram, it added.

The BJP counter-attacked Lal Thanhawla for his controversial sporting of bindi on his forehead two years back. There is no other leader in Mizoram who attended a Hindu puja and painted his forehead red and said I will continue to do this, the statement said.
