GUWAHATI, Aug 16 - The BJP today came down heavily on the Tarun Gogoi Government for not acting strongly on the Louis Berger bribery case and pointed the needle of suspicion at Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi.

Addressing media persons here, BJP MP Ramen Deka who is also the partys national general secretary said that Tarun Gogoi must hand over the case to the CBI immediately.

We have been insisting on a CBI inquiry into the matter from the beginning as there is the probability of the involvement of the top brass of the Government in the bribery case, said Deka.

The senior BJP leader also slammed the Tarun Gogoi Government over the anomalies surfacing in the ongoing NRC update process and observed that as is the tradition of the Congress it is playing vote bank politics over the NRC update as well.

Corruption, inefficiency and vote bank politics are the hallmarks of the Congress. People of the country have rejected the Congress and in the coming Assembly election in the State, it is going to be rejected by the electorate, said Deka, adding that the Congress has always betrayed the aspirations of the people of the state.

Highlighting what the BJP Government has undertaken for the development of the North East since it came to power, Deka said that the Government has kept its promise to the North East by allocating a budget of Rs 53,705 crore for the overall development of the region.

On the other hand, Deka also slammed the Congress Government in the State the escalating crime and the deteriorating law and order situation. He expressed shock over the growing violence against women and said that Tarun Gogois incessant talk about peace is still a distant dream. Deka criticised the Government for not taking action on the matter of fare. The government has failed to reduce the fare proportionately to petrol and diesel prices.
