By Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, July 13 The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Assam Pradesh, has accused Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi of demeaning the post through his remarks that are unbecoming of a Chief Minister. The party also slammed the Congress party ruling for a third consecutive term as arrogant and fascist.

The party referring to the past said that there were no instances in the political history of the State of any Chief Minister making such remarks like Tarun Gogoi.

The remarks of Tarun Gogoi reflect the arrogance of the Congress Government, said the party pointing out to the recent remarks of Tarun Gogoi regarding the issue of mega dams and the June 22 incident.

Spokesperson of the party Santanu Bharali said that the Tarun Gogoi Government is favouring the mega dams should publicly state what benefits the people of Assam would derive from the big dams. The people of Assam have the right to know what they would gain from the Lower Subansiri Hydro Electric Power Project, said Bharali, regretting that the State Government has ignored the opinion of the experts on the issue of mega dams. He further said that going against the opinion of the public is typical of Congress Government.

Bharali said that the BJP respects the sentiments of the people of the State and that it would always protest against all steps that are detrimental to the welfare of the people.
