BJP fires fresh salvo against Gautam Roy

By Correspondent

SILCHAR, Sept 10 The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday said that the way PHE Minister Gautam Roy is overstepping the line with his activities to influence the voters, particularly distributing money in the open, it will be bound to calm the frenzy if the administration fails to take any action.

Pradyut Bora, BJPs national executive member, has categorically said that the party has made written complaint against the activities of the minister violating the model code of conduct giving specific instances and expects that the election observer and the local administration will take measures against the minister.

Expressing disappointment on the role of the Election Commission, Bora said if the poll panel or the administration fails to bring the activities of the minister under control, it should allow the BJP to do the same for which the party is ready.

We have been writing about the activities of Gautam Roy to the Election Commission and also to the election observer and the deputy commissioner. We believe in fair play and will not allow democracy to get tainted, Bora said. He termed the PHE Minister as Hailakandi Virus which is spreading its tentacles across the political landscape of Cachar district.

He said that the Congress candidate is irrelevant and the BJP is protesting the activities of the PHE Minister. If the minister, who is hell-bent to fight the election on a foul note, is controlled, the election and the results will be fair to a great extent, Bora said.

Meanwhile, BJP state vice president and former Karimganj MLA Mission Ranjan Das said that the party has also written to the deputy commissioner about the rampant anomalies in the voters list. Das said that there is a mismatch in the serial numbers in the voters list and the voters slip given to the electors.

The Congress cadres are also collecting the voter identity cards of the electors in many places with promises to facilitate them in the voting process. The BJP anticipates this to be a ploy for false voting. We have written to the deputy commissioner and are waiting for action in this regard, Das said.
