BJP demands Somnath Bharti's removal

By The Assam Tribune

New Delhi, Jan 19 (IANS): The BJP today demanded Delhi Law Minister Somnath Bharti's removal after a court directed police to file a FIR against him for allegedly entering some African women's home.

"He should be immediately removed. He is a symbol of the AAP (Aam Aadmi Party) style of governance which is racist, discriminatory, violent and anarchic," Bharatiya Janata Party's Delhi president Vijay Goel said. "The sooner Delhiites get rid of the AAP regime, the better," he added.

Don't be over confident, Advani warns BJP The BJP should not be "over confident" of winning the coming Lok Sabha election, party veteran LK Advani said here today, adding this was one reason why it lost the 2004 battle.

Addressing the national council of the Bharatiya Janata Party, Advani said there should be no slackness in the efforts to return to power after a decade's break.

"One of the reasons for losing the 2004 Lok Sabha polls was over confidence," he said. "We should not be over confident and there should not be any shortcoming in the hard work that has to be put in."

Advani added that he wanted to address the lack of trust in the BJP among the Muslim community. "They know they have been used for votes, and no one did anything for them. Our party believes in integral humanism... We do not discriminate on the basis of religion, caste or language.

"Those who talk about majority and minority are those who want their votes. We want to work for everyone," he said.
