BJP demands all-party delegation to Manipur

By Correspondent

IMPHAL, Nov 8 Senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader Yashwant Sinha, on a two-day visit to Manipur, has demanded an all-party delegation to Manipur to take stock of the situation arising out of the blockade on its National Highways.

The visiting former Union Finance Minister hoped that the Prime Minister will send an all- party delegation to Manipur before the Winter session of the Parliament beginning November 22. We will also raise the Manipur issue in both Houses of the Parliament, added the BJP leader while addressing an intellectual meet on Manipur Vision 2025 here today.

The initiative of an all-party delegation will be the beginning of an exercise of consensus on Manipur issue, he observed. Last month, a BJP delegation led by party president Nitin Gadkari had also urged the Prime Minister to lead an all-party delegation to Manipur.

The BJP leader also demanded a massive airlift of essential items as the State faces its worst supplies crisis due to the continuous economic blockade which entered 100th day today.

The ongoing blockade was initiated on August 21 by the United Naga Council, which is opposed to the call to carve out a Sadar Hills district from the Naga-majority Senapati district.

Have a massive airlift of essential items,Yashwant said and argued, Why cant we do this in Manipur. He further observed that if such a blockade had occurred in places such as Mumbai or Chennai, the country would have acted differently.

Prakash Javadekar, who accompanied the BJP leader, expressed that his party is fighting for Manipur and added that top BJP leaders will be visiting Manipur next month. Yashwant Sinha is scheduled to leave tomorrow.
