GUWAHATI, July 1 Demanding expeditious release of Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS) general secretary Akhil Gogoi, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Friday described the treatment meted out to Akhil as reflective of the repressive policy followed by the Congress across the country.
Addressing media persons here, national spokesperson of the party Rajib Pratap Rudy said that the June 22 incident in the capital city was not an accident but a well targeted vendetta by a corrupt Congress against the crusaders of corruption.
We demand a judicial inquiry into the June 22 incident as well as immediate compensation for those killed and injured in the incident, insisted Rudy mentioning that in all earlier such cases, the government had announced immediate compensation and hence there should not be any discrimination in regard to the June 22 incident as well.
The first gift of the Tarun Gogoi government to the people of Assam after a fabulous third time mandate came in the form of the death of a child in police firing on June 22, said Rudy adding that the BJPs fight against corruption would continue and that it would support the civil society groups that have started voicing against corruption.
Rudy said that the BJP does not trust the Congress and so it would press for minutest detail on the drafting of the Lokpal Bill. Warning that a host of factors including corruption and price rise has made the situation volatile in the country, Rudy said that anything can happen any time, including a mid-term poll.
Corruption has become the order of the day and inflation has been inflicted on the common people by choice by the UPA government, accused Rudy pointing out that the hike in diesel will severely affect the economy and common people as diesel is very crucial to infrastructure growth of the country.
There was no point in hiking the price of petrol as all the oil companies have been making immense profit and consumers have been paying the highest taxes on petrol, said Rudy dubbing the UPA a defunct government and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh as a speechless Prime Minister whose buttons are pressed from 10 Janpath.
