BJP dares CM to make graft inquiries public

By Staff reporter

GUWAHATI, April 16 The State unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today dared the Chief Minister to make public the information related to the inquiries the State Government has conducted into the corruption cases of the State Government departments. It has also and also challenged the Chief Minister to name the officials who have been punished so far in connection with these cases.

In a statement issued by the spokesman of the partys State unit Shantanu Bharali, it has reiterated that there was a conspiracy behind the State Departments refusal to grant permission to prosecute 26 IAS and ACS officers in the green house scam. The Home portfolio is with the Chief Minister, the party said.

Describing this as a serious blow to the democratic system of the country, the party warned that the step taken by the State Government in this regard is fraught with dangerous consequences.

The party also questioned the justification of the State Government claim that a retired officer cannot be prosecuted. With this plea, the State Government had refused to grant permission to prosecute nine retired officers, the BJP State unit said.
