BJP committed to resolve influx issue: Shah

By Correspondent

MORIGAON, April 5 - Addressing a large poll campaign meeting at Ahotguti in Morigaon district, BJP president Amit Shah today said that his party is committed to resolving the vexed influx issue of Assam, and that if the party came to power, the border of Bangladesh would be sealed forever and Assam would be free from illegal foreigners. However, Shah remained silent on the Citizenship (Amendment Bill) which is contradictory to the Assam Accord.

The BJP president further said that the Central Government is committed to implementing Clause 6 of the Assam Accord.

Highlighting the Narendra Modi-led Union Governments schemes to develop Assam and the North East, Shah said that the BJP Government had invested Rs 2.80 lakh crore for the all-round development of the State. Taking a dig at the Congress, the BJP president alleged that it is a party lacking leadership and principles, and supportive of pro-Pakistani forces in India. The country and its people are safe only under the BJP-led Government, he claimed.

On the BJPs poll prospects, Shah said that Narendra Modi would return as the Prime Minister. Criticising the Congress, he said that though there is a secret understanding between the Congress and the AIUDF, people would reject both the parties.

Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal said that Narendra Modi is the only Prime Minister since Independence who has used all his energies to develop Assam on all fronts. He alleged that the Congress polluted public life during its rule in the State.

A PTI report adds: BJP president Amit Shah today challenged Congress chief Rahul Gandhi to make his stand clear on National Conference leader Omar Abdullahs demand for a separate Prime Minister in Kashmir.

Abdullah had recently made a statement that Kashmir must have a separate Prime Minister.....Can a country have two Prime Ministers. The Congress is silent on this, Shah said at an election rally in Ahotguri.

I want to ask Rahul baba whether the Congress supports this statement of Abdullah. I know he does not have the courage to say anything on this as it requires the guts to speak on it, he said. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will form the Government again but if in any case, we are in the Opposition and they plan to materialise Abdullahs proposal, then hum jaan ki baazi laaga denge (we will put our lives at stake) and not allow it at any cost, he said.

Kashmir will always remain a part of the country and we cannot allow it to have a separate Prime Minister, he said. The BJP president claimed that the NRC is a major step taken by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the last five years to drive out illegal migrants from Assam.

Shah said after the Pulwama attack in which 40 jawans were killed, the Prime Minister had directed the Air Force to enter Pakistan and destroy the terrorist camps there.

There was an atmosphere of mourning at two places Pakistan, which is understandable and the other in the Congress camp at a time when the entire country was celebrating, he said launching a blistering attack on the rival party.

I want to send a message to Rahul baba that it may be your policy to talk with terrorists but it is not the BJPs. Prime Minister Narendra Modis principle is wahan se goli aayegi, yahan se gola jayega (if we are attacked by bullet, we will reply with cannon balls. Bricks will be answered with rocks), the BJP president asserted.
