NORTH LAKHIMPUR, July 9 � The Bharatiya Janata Party has clarified its stand on the resumption of construction work of 10,000 MW Gerukamukh hydro-electrical power plant dam off the Subansisri river by the NHPC. This was stated by the Lakhimpur district unit of the BJP in a press meet held in North Lakhimpur Press Club recently.
Addressing the media the president of Lakhimpur district BJP, Rao Gajendra Singh and secretary Pranab Saikia said that the party won�t go against the wishes of the people over the issue and stated that the ongoing developments regarding the resumption of work of Gerukamukh dam was the result of the conspiracy designed by the bureaucracy of the State Government.
Speaking on behalf of the Lakhimpur MP and Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, the BJP district leaders said that their party�s stand on the Gerukamukh dam would remain the same as stated in the poll promises and any further move would be resolved after discussing all the matters with the NHPC. They also stated that BJP would fulfill all the promises made during the poll campaign and asked the public not to fear and worry about the construction of the dam at Gerukamukh.
