BJP blasts Gogoi for senseless criticism

By Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, Sept 26 - The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Assam Pradesh, on Monday stated that the criticisms hurled against the Sarbananda Sonowal Government by former Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi at a press conference today has simply exposed the inefficiency of the erstwhile Congress regime.

BJP spokesperson Subhash Dutta said that the infrastructure of the State never saw any improvement during the tenure of the Tarun Gogoi Government. He said that the Congress left a devastated economy which the Sarbananda Sonowal Government is now trying to bring back on the right track. Since the BJP-led alliance came to power, it has been undertaking a slew of pragmatic steps to fulfil the promises made to the electorate, said Dutta, pointing out that the Sonowal Government has freed 130 bighas of Bordowa Sattra land of encroachment and steps have been taken to free encroached land of other Sattras. As promised to the people of Assam, the Government launched the recent eviction drive to secure the internationally reputed Kaziranga National Park , Majuli has been recognised as a district and all other assurances to the electorate will be fulfilled by the Government, said Dutta.

On the other hand, the spokesperson slammed the former Congress Government for the problems that are being faced by the small tea growers and mentioned that the BJP-led Government has initiated the requisite process to address the grievances of the small tea growers.

Tarun Gogoi is playing cheap politics on the KNP eviction and provincialisation of venture schools. He is trying to put the blame on the BJP-led Government for the present predicament of the venture school teachers, when the fault totally lies on the previous Government, said Dutta, calling upon Gogoi not to indulge in senseless criticism, but to come forward with constructive suggestions so that the people of the State can benefit.
