BJP blames illegal migrants for violence

By Staff reporter

GUWAHATI, July 26 BJP national general secretary Vijay Goel on Thursday stated that illegal migrants were responsible for the communal violence in Kokrajhar and demanded detection, detention and deportation of illegal migrants to check Kokrajhar like situation in future.

Addressing media persons here at the party office, Goel who along with other BJP leaders had visited the strife torn areas to make an assessment of the situation, said that it was clear as daylight that illegal migrants have been fomenting trouble in Kokrajhar and other districts.

We visited the relief camps in Kokrajhar. The people from the Bodo community told us that illegal migrants had burnt down their houses, said Goel pointing out that of the 27 relief camps in Kokrajhar, 21 have been sheltering the Bodos and 5 camps have been sheltering the minorities. Goel said that the no. of camps and its inmates were enough to prove who was responsible for the violence.

Regretting that Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi has been trying to prove that the illegal migrants had no hand in the violence, Goel said that vote bank politics will spell the doom of Assam.

The illegal migrants are the vote bank of the Congress. So Tarun Gogoi is turning a blind eye towards the developments in Kokrajhar. The Congress will keep Assam burning for the sake of votes, Goel said.
