DIPHU, Sept 27 - Without making any formal announcement, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has started preparations for its victory in the next year�s parliamentary elections in the hill district.
With five MLA seats in its kitty and the two autonomous councils under its rule, the BJP is determined to repeat the same success in the district.
Top leaders of the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council have been conducting public contact programmes in different parts of the district, particularly in opposition bastions, since September 11.
On Wednesday, the party held a public meeting at the Lingding LP School playground under Rongkhang MAC Constituency in West Karbi Anglong. The meeting held at a non-tribal locality was presided over by Ramsing Gorg.
Several dignitaries of the region, including member of autonomous council and ex-chairman of the present BJP-ruled Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council Horensing Bey, Rongkhang village development committee chairman Dinendra Bordoloi, Rongkhang mandal BJP committee president Pradeep Rongpi, Mahila Morcha president Rani Kramsapi, attended the rally.
While addressing the public meeting, Horensing Bey declared that the BJP is a party which is committed to the well being of the underprivileged and is under the command of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council�s Chief Executive Member Tuliram Ronghang.
He also pointed out that the party is conducting get together programmes at grassroots levels so that benefits of these schemes reach the villagers.
