BJP announces candidates for Dec 21 Arunachal bye-polls

ITANAGAR, Dec 3 - The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party in Arunachal Pradesh has last night announced its official candidates for the forthcoming bye-elections to Pakke-Kessang (ST) and Likabali (ST) Assembly constituencies.

BJP Central Election Committee has approved the candidature of Biyuram Wahge and Kardo Nyicyor for the ensuing bye-polls to Pakke-Kessang and Likabali seats respectively, according to a party release issued here.

The grand old party Congress has also declared its official candidates � former Deputy Chief Minister Kameng Dolo and Modam Dini for the bye-polls.

So far, only one candidate, BJP�s Wahge, has filed nominations for the bye-polls scheduled to be held on December 21 next, according to Deputy Chief Electoral Officer D J Bhattacharjee.

Sunday being a holiday, rest of the candidates are expected to file papers tomorrow, the last date of filing nominations. Scrutiny of nominations is scheduled on December 5 and December 7 will be the last date for withdrawal of candidature.
