BJP all set to take over NCHAC again

HAFLONG, May 30 - The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is again all set to take over power from the Congress with four Congress members of the NC Hills Autonomous Council (NCHAC) joining the saffron party recently.

Earlier in October, 2015, as many as 18 Congress executive members and members of the Autonomous Council (MACs) joined the BJP. Subsequently, the NC Hills Autonomous was taken over by the saffron party with Niranjan Hojai as its Chief Executive Member.

However, within three months, the BJP was made minority in the house as some BJP members joined the Congress party.

But after the landslide victory of the BJP in the State, four Congress MACs � Deboprasad Hojai Devojit Bathari, Hailamkuambe Jeme and Denis Teron � joined the BJP giving the majority in the house of 30 members (28 elected and 2 nominated).

Addressing a press meet here, the Dima Hasao BJP district committee spokesperson, Samarjeet Haflongbar, said that the BJP is all set to form the Government in the NCHAC.

Former CEM of NCHAC Niranjan Hojai said that the BJP would focus on all round development of the district.

The BJP MACs urged the Chairman of NCHAC, Ngamrothang Hmar, on Monday to hold a special session so that BJP could form the government showing their majority in the house.

Meanwhile, the ongoing strike by Employees� Union of NCHAC has affected the functioning of the Council. The employees have been agitating for the payment of their pending salaries.
