BJP, AGP have secret deal with AIUDF: Cong

By Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, April 10 - The Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) today alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and its alliance partners have entered into an alliance with the All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF).

In a press statement issued here today, the APCC alleged that contrary to the propaganda campaign launched by the ruling party and its alliance partners to smear the image of the Congress saying that the grand old party has a covert understanding with the AIUDF, it is, in fact, the BJP and its alliance partners which have forged an alliance secretly with the Badruddin Ajmal-led party.

To buttress its above assertion, Congress spokesman Rhituparna Konwar claimed that going by the recent admission of the AGP Minister in the Sarbananda Sonowal Cabinet, Phani Bhusan Choudhury, one can be certain that the BJP and its alliance partner Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) have covertly entered into an alliance with the AIUDF.

Phani Bhusan Choudhury recently made a public statement that AGP president Atul Bora and its working president Keshab Mahanta, who are also members in the Sonowal Cabinet, had approached AIUDF MLA Aminul Islam seeking AIUDFs support to AGPs candidate for the Kaliabor parliamentary seat.

This makes one believe that Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal has approved this move of the AGP, as, without his approval, his ministerial colleagues would not have dared to approach the AIUDF, which is projected as the sworn enemy of the BJP and its alliance partners by the leaders of the alliance.

This development creates enough ground to believe that to ensure victory in the Lok Sabha elections this time, the BJP has engaged the AGP Ministers as negotiators to strike a deal with the AIUDF, said the APCC spokesman.
