BJP against transfer of land to Bangla

By Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, Sept 1 The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Assam Pradesh unit today announced that it would never support handing over of land to Bangladesh by the Tarun Gogoi-led government.

It way be mentioned here that recently Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi had declared that a few villages in Dhubri and Karimganj would be handed over to Bangladesh and in return India (West Bengal) would get a few villages from Bangladesh.

Addressing media persons here, State party president Ranjit Dutta said that vote bank politics has already converted the State into a haven for the Bangladeshis and now the State governments proposition to handover land to Bangladesh would further encourage more infiltration from Bangladesh.

Coming down heavily on the Tarun Gogoi-led Congress government for allegedly failing to implement the promises made to the electorates even after 100 days in office, Dutta said that the government has failed to keep its promise of checking corruption, price rise, updating NRC, etc.

The skyrocketing prices of all essential commodities, including food grain, is just a pointer to the fact that the Tarun Gogoi government is not at all sincere about its commitment to the people, said Dutta adding that the common consumers had been facing great difficulties because of price rise.

Regretting that the process of NRC update was yet to be restarted, Dutta said that the infiltration issue would become more vexed if the government further delayed the NRC update process.

We warn the government against harassing the Hindu D Voters, said Dutta reminding that Tarun Gogoi had given the assurance that the Hindu D Voters would be provided with Indian citizenship.

On the other hand, Dutta said that the Tarun Gogoi government was not interested to resolve the grievances of the indigenous youth who were taking to tea cultivation on a small scale.

The BJP is going to protest the failure of the State government on September 3 across Assam. The protest programmes will include demonstrations, public meetings, etc.
