BISWANATH CHARIALI, March 16 - The people of Biswanath Chariali have come forward in support of singing sensation and Indian Idol Junior 2 2015 runners up Nahid Afrin, who was threatened by Islamist fundamentalists at Udali, Hojai recently. Several organisations including AAMSU, AASU etc., here have sharply criticised such activites of the Islamist fundamentalists and warned them to restrain themselves from such things in the future.

Meanwhile, Nahid also reacted sharply towards such notices served by the Islamist fundamentalists. Talking to mediapersons at her residence, Nahid commented that her voice was gifted by Allah for singing songs in service of mankind. If I dont sing, Allah will not forgive me and it will be an insult to the Almighty, she added. I have been rendering my voice for the people of Assam, not for me, Nahid stressed. She expressed the hope that she would be able to overcome such hurdles and move forward.
