BISWANATH CHARIALI, Dec 25 � The Biswanath subdivisional administration has geared up for the ensuing panchayat election. Altogether 1,89,370 voters including 97867 male and 91503 female voters will use their franchise to elect 7 Zila Parishad members, 32 Anchalik Panchayat members, 32 Gaon Panchayat members and 320 GP Ward members.
The election in the subdivision will be held on February 6 for which notification will be issued on December 28, last date for submission of nomination paper is January 8, 2013 and scrutiny of nomination paper is slated for January 9 and 10.
The last date for withdrawal of nomination paper is January 17, while publication of list of contesting candidates will be made on January 18. The counting will be done on February 14 and 15. This was informed by Narayan Konwar, SDO(C), Biswanath in a press meet on December 24 held at the conference hall of his office.
There will be 329 polling stations in the entire subdivision. Election officer, Biswa-nath, Sanjay Dutta and SDIPRO, Iftiker Jaman were also present in the press meet. Prior to this, a meeting with the representatives of different political parties was held in which the SDO(C) briefed about the model code of conduct.
