Biren Buragohain passes away

DHEMAJI, April 20 - Biren Buragohain, retired founder principal, Machkhowa Girls� Higher Secondary School and an intense social worker of the greater Machkhowa area in Dhemaji, who was an inhabitant of Noikosh village here, passed away on April 18 at 10:50 am at a Dhemaji-based nursing home following a cardiac arrest. He was 67.

Born in 1949, Biren Buragohain passed his BA degree in 1974 from North Bank College, Ghilamara and established the then Machkhowa Girls� High School in 1977, which was later promoted as Machkhowa Girls� Higher Secondary School. He retired from service in February, 2013.

Immensely interested in games and sports, late Buragohain was a good football player. He was also associated with several organisations. A sincere worker of the AGP from the time of the Assam Movement, Biren Buragohain recently joined the BJP before the Dhemaji LAC bypoll. He was also a life member of Asam Sahitya Sabha. He had been in the post of the president of the School Management and Development Committee of Machkhowa Girls� HSS till his death.

He leaves behind his wife, a son, three daughters and several grand-children. His sudden death was deeply mourned in the greater Machkhowa area. Several organisations here like Machkhowa Sahitya Sabha, Machkhowa Press Club, the Machkhowa anchalik unit of AASU, AGP, BJP, Machkhowa Sports� Association and Machkhowa Lekhika Samarooh Samiti have deeply condoled his sudden demise.
