Bipin clinches chess title

GUWAHATI, Nov 25 - Th Bipin Singha won the title in the Rajat Chandra Sarma, Smriti Shastri and Kamini Priya Devi Memorial Guwahati Chess Championship scoring 6 points from 7 rounds.

In the final round he drew his game against Biswajit Bharadwaj. Youngster Nitish Das also scored 6 points from same number of rounds but declared second on the basis tie-break score. Nitish beat Chiraranjan Bhuyan in the final round. Pranab Kumar Nath got third position scoring 5 points. In the final round he beat Nilkamal Das. Biswajit Bharadwaj also scored 5 points but got fourth position on the basis of tie-break score. Chiraranjan Bhuyan, Nakul Basumatary, Sahjahan Ali, Pranit Malhotra, Dhrupad Kashyap and Bhavishnu Pranti Bordoloi scored 4,5 points each and placed fifth, sixth, seventh, eighth, ninth and tenth according to their tie-break score.

Top for position holders will be selected to represent Guwahati in forthcoming All Assam Chess Championship to be held in Diphu from 16th December, 2016. Top seven position holder warded cash prizes and trophies.
