Bike rally creates awareness on anti-women crimes

JONAI, Aug 6 - With a view to mobilise common masses against molestation of women and girl child, the Royal Riders, n union of self-employed youths of Jonai in Dhemaji district took out a bike rally in and around Jonai town on Sunday.

The riders distributed leaflets among the people and also conducted road meetings at different locations of Jonai area on crimes against women and girl child and appealed to the people to root out the social evil from society. Assuring that they would continue their efforts against sexual exploitation of women, the Royal Riders volunteers requested all sections of people to join their movement.

The riders displaying festoons of various slogans against molestation of women also proceeded to Abor Leku and Purana Jelom villages along National Highway-15 and conducted a road meeting at Oyan Chariali on the Assam-Arunachal boundary.

Inaugurating the bike rally at Migom village on Sunday morning, a teacher Pranati Bora lamented that women are still treated as the weaker section of the society and underestimated on all fronts. She laid stress on mass awareness campaigns to make the people aware of the rights and protection of women.

�The social organisations should work for building of the moral character among the young generation and teach them to see the women as their mother or sisters�, she avowed.

Speaking on the occasion, social activist Prafulla Koman explained the legal aspects of women-related crimes with special reference to POCSO Act. He said the noble effort initiated by Royal Riders against molestation of women deserves appreciation and hoped that the activities would get massive public support.
