Bike expedition to Myanmar flagged off

IMPHAL, Nov 24 - Manipur Works Minister Thongam Biswajit Singh today said that India cannot be called a developed country without the development of North East India.

Biswajit Singh, who also holds the Power, Rural Development, and Information and Public Relations portfolios, was speaking to media persons on the sidelines of a flagging-off ceremony of a motorcycle expedition at a hotel here.

The 10-day expedition to Myanmar is being organised by �Pack the Bag� with an objective to promote tourism and cultural integration. Eight bikers from different parts of the country are taking part in it.

The bikers� team will pass through Kalaymyo, Monyna, Mandalay, Inle Lake and Yangon in Myanmar.

The minister stated that the expedition would further strengthen the cause of cultural integration while praising the organisers.

Urging the bikers to carry the message of love and affection back home, the minister stated that the State Government is organising the Sangai Festival to promote tourism and showcase exotic cuisine, handloom and handicraft products of the State.

The flagging-off ceremony was also attended by members of Pack the Bag.
