Bihu celebrations at Dhopalia Jyotikuchi

GUWAHATI, April 5 � Preparations are afoot to successfully organise the Brihattar Dhopalia Jyotikuchi Rongali Bihu Sanmilan which will be held with a two-day programme on April 27 and 28. In this connection, a meeting was held recently which constituted a 41-member organising committee with West Guwahati MLA Hemanta Talukdar as president and Munindra Deka as general secretary, said a press release.

Competitions on Bihu Kunwari, Bihu Huchori and modern dance will be held on the first day while the cultural nites on both days will have artistes like Sonu Kakkar, Antara Nandi, Krishnamoni Chutia, Subashana Dutta, actors Nipon Goswami and Aimee Baruah, among others. Well-known writer Rekha Baruah will release Madhuri, the souvenir to be published on the occasion. The souvenir releasing function will be attended by senior journalists Nava Thakuria and Bedabrata Borah.

The sports competitions will be inaugurated by sports journalist Ranjit Bhattacharjya and the prize distribution ceremony will be attended by Sanjiv Narayan, managing director, Prag Channel.
