DOOMDOOMA, April 17 - Following age-old traditions, the celebration of Bohag Bihu in Sadiya began today with the offering of sacrifice at the historic Burha-Burhi Saal.
According to tradition, the people of Sadiya celebrate Bihu from the first Wednesday of the month of Bohag in the Assamese calendar after offering puja and sacrifice at the Burha-Burhi Saal by the bordeori (priest). Accordingly, today the traditional puja and sacrifice was offered at the temple and then celebration of Bihu began. It can be mentioned here that people belonging to all tribes living in Sadiya follow this tradition.
On the other hand, Bihu celebration of the Moran tribe also began today. This tribe also celebrates Bihu from the first Wednesday of Bohag in Assamese calendar. Today, they celebrated Goru Bihu.
