Bihogi Kabi Raghunath Chaudhari remembered

NALBARI, Nov 21 � Rich tributes were paid to Bihogi Kabi Raghunath Chaudhari in a function held at his birth place, Laupara near Mukalmua in Nalbari district on Thursday.

The death anniversary programme organised by the Raghunath Chaudhari Sahitya Sabha, Pub-Barkshetri started with the flag hoisting by Jogendra Nath Medhi, president of the Sahitya Sabha branch. It was followed by the smriti tarpan by Nurul Islam and garlanding of the portrait of Raghunath Chaudhari by Hatem Ali Akand.

The meeting was held with Karuna Kanta Kalita, president, Nalbari Zila Sahitya Sabha, in the chair. Addressing the meeting, the secretary of Asam Sahitya Sabha, Dr Paramananda Rajbongshi said that the Asam Sahitya Sabha would take up steps to observe the death anniversary of Raghunath Chaudhury centrally from the next session.

Dr Rajbongshi further said that to strengthen the fund position of the Asam Sahitya Sabha, it is approaching the UNESCO for financial help like other NGOs. He was hopeful that the UNESCO would extend help to the Sabha.

The meeting was addressed, among others, by Phanidhar Kalita, Deputy Commissioner, Barpeta, Bipin Kalita, secretary of the Nalbari Zila Sahitya Sabha and Govinda Kalita, vice president of the Nalbari Zila Sahitya Sabha.
