Big win for Metro Rly in All India Inter Railway Cricket

GUWAHATI, March 28 - In the 62nd edition of the All India Inter Railway Cricket Tournament, which got off here yesterday, two group league matches were played today.

At the Assam Cricket Association�s Barsapara stadium, Metro Railway thrashed North Eastern Railway by 71 runs in the rain hit match while at the NFRSA Stadium in Maligaon, East Coast Railway defeated North West Railway by 32 runs.

On the opening day yesterday, host NF Railway defeated North West Railway by 12 runs while Metro Railway trounced North Central Railway by 85 runs.

Altogether six teams are in the fray in this group. The teams are � NF Rly, Metro Rly, North Eastern Rly, North Central Rly, East Cost Rly, North West Rly. Other groups are being organised at Kolkata, Patiala and Visakhapatnam.

Brief scores: Metro Railway 303/6 in 44 overs (Sudip Chatterjee 98, Aditya Sengupta 76, Vivek Singh 73, Arindam Ghosh 34, Amit Singh 4/29, Saurav Kashyap 2/47). North Eastern Railway 181/9 in revised 32 overs (Akash Kumar 87, Nishant Rai 40, Nilkantha Das 3/35, Aranab Nandi 3/35, Soumo Pakre 2/41).
