Biennial meet of Aranya Suraksha Samiti

UDALGURI, Dec 12 - The Udalguri district committee of Aranya Suraksha Samiti, Assam, an NGO working for the betterment of forest resources of Assam is going to hold its tenth biennial conference with a two-day programme on December 26-27 at Orang HS school premises. This was sated by Somesh Mahato, secretary of the reception committee on Friday.

The first day of the conference will have programmes like flag hoisting, tributes to the martyrs, exhibition, quiz and drawing competitions for the school children and delegates' session followed by new committee formation of Udalguri district committee of the NGO.

The second day of the conference on will have features like folk and cultural show of local linguistic ethnic groups followed by a seminar on the topic, �Demand to declare Orang as World Heritage Site� which will be inaugurated by Keshab Chandra Baruah, former principal of Asomjyoti Junior College of Orang and will be chaired by Dr Harischaran Das, secretary of Aranya Suraksha Samiti, Assam.

Bhupen Talukdar, retired principal of Forest School, Jalukbari, Thaneswar Gohain, manager of Orang TE, Dr Tapash Medhi, associate professor of Biotechnology of Tezpur Central University, Achintya Kr. Baruah, tourism expert of Kaziranga National Park, Girindra Nath Adhikari, Divisional Forest Officer of Dhansiri forest division, Chakrapani Ray, regional forest officer of Orang National Park among many others are expected to participate in the seminar.
