GUWAHATI, Sept 12 - The Maligaon-headquartered Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has decided to deploy anti-drugging and Crime Investigation Branch teams of the Railway Protection Force (RPF) in coordination with the GRP for combating the menace of drugging of travelling train passengers.

This was decided during the Zonal Crime Conference of the RPF at Maligaon earlier this week, said a statement received today.

The meeting, convened by the Chief Security Commissioner and Inspector General of RPF, was attended by Security Commissioners from all divisions of the NF Railway and other senior officials from the headquarters.

At the meeting, crimes relating to railway property, both of railway materials and booked luggage, were analysed.

Issues pertaining to passenger security, especially security of woman passengers, were discussed in detail. It was decided to increase the number of train escorting teams for enhancing the protection of train passengers.
