Bid to rehabilitate affected people of Bogibeel area

DIBRUGARH, May 31 - The district administration is seeking to prepare a draft plan for the rehabilitation of all whose livelihood were affected following construction of the Bogibeel bridge.

In a meeting held with all the affected people like boatmen, carpenters, mechanics, petty shop and hotel owners and a few others of the Bogibeel area, the Deputy Commissioner said that the district administration will prepare a draft rehabilitation plan and submit it to the government by August 1. He therefore urged upon all the affected people to submit in writing how each one would like to be rehabilitated.

As part of the rehabilitation plan, the district administration will first publish a draft list of all those affected on June 7. The list will be available at the Deputy Commissioner�s offices at Dibrugarh and Dhemaji as also the nearest gaon panchayats of the affected areas of both the districts. Claims and objections will be received for 15 days after the publication of the draft. Thereafter, the final list will be prepared and published on June 29. This was informed to the affected people during the meeting at the conference hall of the Deputy Commissioner here, a release stated.
