GUWAHATI, July 16 - In order to add teeth to the existing fire fighting module, the State Fire Service Organisation (SFSO) has submitted a proposal to the home department for setting up of a water hydrant system in Guwahati.
The system will ensure an underground water pipeline system, which can prove crucial while dousing fire in areas where fire tenders cannot get access to. �A large network of pipes within several outlets would also mean that the fire tenders can refill as and when required,� sources said.
The SFSO Director said vulnerability tests of all the structures in Guwahati are being done and notice will be sent to them if found wanting.
