Bhupenda�s ashes immersed at Parashuram Kund

DIBRUGARH, Nov 14 � Ashes of legendary cultural icon late Dr Bhupen Hazarika was finally immersed at River Lohit at Parashuram Kund on Sunday amidst a huge gathering of people of Arunachal Pradesh.

A sea of fans with tears rolling down their cheeks made a beeline to pay floral tributes to the music maestro Dr Bhupen Hazarika.

On behalf of the people of Arunachal Pradesh, Chief Minister Nabum Tuki, his MLA colleagues Chowna Mein, Kalikho Pul, Chow Tewa Mein, Nang Sati Mein, Karikho Kri and Lohit district Administrators T Miso, ADC Namsai, S Sengupta, EAC Namsai, T Gangkak, EAC Wakro, K Nyudo, EAC Chongkham, and Rakesh Kumar Singh, AGM, Athena Demwe Power Limited offered rich floral tributes to Dr Bhupen Hazarika.

T Miso, ADC Namsai, while paying his tribute said that the people of Northeast should forget their differences and become one honouring the sprit and efforts of Bhupenda. S Sengupta, EAC, Namsai, while paying floral tributes to late Bhupenda said that there is never going to be another musician like Bhupenda not in Assam, not in Arunachal Pradesh, not in India. But the bottom line is that he was a very warm, compassionate and caring person and an incomparable human being. T Gangkak, EAC Wakro said the haunting voice of late Hazarika in Dil Hoom Hoom Kare and Ganga behti ho Kyun would reverberate throughout the Northeast for times to come.

Rakesh Kumar Singh, AGM of Athena Demwe Power Limited said that Bhupenda will always be remembered by the people of Arunachal especially Namsai Sub-Division since his ashes were immersed in the sacred Lohit River at Parashuram Kund Dip. SB Gohain, SDPO Namsai and Dr CK Gohain, In-charge SMO Namsai CHC had taken due pain for overall arrangement.

It is pertinent to mention here that Athena Demwe Power Limited arranged the site for immersion of ashes of Bhupenda and also arranged food/light refreshments for the local populace and visiting officers and guests from Assam.
