Bhubaneswar hopeful of Congress victory

HALEM, March 10 � Organised by the block Congress committees of Chaiduar and Pub-Chaiduar at the playground of Chaiduar College recently, a Janajagaran Sabha was addressed by Bhubaneswar Kalita, Rajya Sabha MP-cum-president of APCC-cum-chairman of the election committee.

He assured that the Congress party alone will form the government this time also. However, he did not attack the Opposition parties in his speech. Addressing the mammoth gathering, Kalita further said that in Gahpur constituency also the Congress win is almost sure.

Without mentioning anything about suspension of Ripun Bora, Kalita praised the activities of Bora and expressed that he is the sole leader at Gahpur and nobody can compete with him. Kalita also mentioned about the development of the State under the dynamic leadership of Tarun Gogoi. He appealed to the people to vote for the Congress for total development of the State.

On the other hand, the Mani Kumar Subba�s group led by Utpal Bora, a Congress ticket aspirant, also organised a separate meeting parallely at Barangabari where Kalita refused to attend inspite of repeated requests. However, he did come out from his vehicle and subsequently paid tributes before the statue of martyr, Kanaklata Barua and left the place without speaking anything to the faction group which was led by Homlal Sarma and Nomal Barua.

Earlier, Kalita was escorted to Gahpur by a large number of motor-cyclists along with his convoy. Ripun Bora, the local MLA and ex-Education Minister delivered the welcome address. Kalita was accompanied by Nurjamal Sarkar, Minister for Fisheries etc., and Bhupen Bora, MLA of Bihpuria constituency.

Kalita was warmly felicited and has given a symbolic mace as gift.
