Bhogali Bihu celebrated in Thane

GUWAHATI, Jan 31 - The Thane Assamese Society celebrated Bhogali Bihu in Hiranandini Estate Lawns in Thane, Maharashtra, on January 27, stated a press release. A large number of Assamese people from Thane and nearby areas came together to celebrate the occasion and showcase the rich Assamese culture.

The programme began with a Borgeet sung by Reena Roy, a resident of Thane. Sangita Goswami Chakravarty and Ellora Borah choreographed and performed on the song Namami Brahmaputra, which drew applause from the audience. Dances, Rabha sangeet, Assamese modern songs, Jhumur dance, Manipuri dance and Bihu dance were performed during the cultural programme. The cultural event concluded with a �Mukoli Bihu� performed by all the people.

Besides the cultural programme, there was �Khel Dhemali� for children as well as adults. Assamese snacks (Pitha Pona) were served to the guests, while the evening ended with �Preeti Bhoj�, where delicacies cooked in Assamese style were served.
