IMPHAL, May 31 - The dawn to dusk bandh(5 am to 5 pm) nationwide Bharat bandh called by National Democratic Alliance in collaboration with Left parties in protest against the recent petrol price hike hit normal life in Manipur and Tripura today though it passed off peacefully.
Markets, besides Government and private establishments remained closed. Manipur People�s Party, one of the oldest regional parties in the region also morally supported the bandh.
The coordinating body of trade unions,Manipur also joined the all-India protest day against the recent price hike.
In Shillong: In a rare show of solidarity, local taxis responded to the bandh and stayed off the roads.
