BARPETA, Dec 1 - With a view to popularise Ankia Bhaona, the unique creation of Mahapurush Srimanta Sankaradeva and present it in a more attractive way, Bhaona Samaroh is being organised every fourth year at Barpeta.
Hence, Bhaona Samaroh Samiti Barpeta will organise the fourth Bhaona Samaroh with a three-day programme from January 18 to 20 next.
To conduct the event smoothly, a strong organising committee headed by Gunindra Nath Das, MLA of Barpeta constituency as president and Babul Chandra Das, retired professor and Vaishnavite scholar as working president has been formed. Chandrakanta Das, Satyaranjan Das, Ajit Kumar Dewan, Kanika Pathak, Dr Hariram Das and Ajit Kumar Das are the vice presidents of the committee. While Santoshlal Majumdar is the chief secretary, he will be assisted by Satyendra Nath Bharali and Mrityunjay Das as secretaries.
Further, there are several sub committees to look into finance, souvenir, reception of guests, pandal, publicity etc. All the organs of the committee have begun preparations to make the event a grand success. The publicity committee of informed that a seminar on Bhaona will also be held to acquaint the new generation with this noble form of performing art.
