Bhaitbari PWD IB allegedly encroached

By Biplab Kr Dey

TURA, July 27 Residents of New Bhaitbari, where the PWD Inspection Bungalow is located have complained about the property being illegally encroached upon by one Jolbahar Sheikh, who has even started construction within the premises of the government property. According to residents of the area, the same person has also in the past tried to take over properties of locals, through force or threat.

Sheikh, according to them has contended that the property actually belonged to him and he wanted the same property back. He has also staked claim on lands belonging to the Darun-Uloom Madrassa, Bhaitbari Higher Secondary School among other properties within the area.

Residents have contested his action saying that the according to the details available with the District Council, the property did not belong to him, but rather belonged to three people, the Government IB being the property of Late Shurhab Ali, Abed Ali and Saher Ali.

The IB property was donated by Shurhab Ali to the Government, while the other properties were sold to different people at very reasonable rates and they have the deed of sale with them as well.

Jolbahar has been illegally occupying the land and has tried to do the same to one of my properties as well. He has constructed a kachha house within the premises. There are two cases filed, one each in Phulbari PS and the Rajabala one, but no action has been taken against the person. He has been terrorising the people of the area and even threatened some people with murder, said Aziz Ali, a resident of the village.

According to information, an FIR was filed against Jolbahar Sheikh by the PWD engineer at Phulbari, while the actual owners of the property lodged an FIR in the Rajabala outpost.

The government property belongs to the people and they need the IB as it is an important landmark in the village. The same cannot be illegally taken away by criminals, who want to use force to ensure their ends, said Abu Sayed, another resident of Bhaitmari.
