BG train set to receive rousing welcome

BADARPUR, Nov 20 - With the first passenger train on the Lumding-Badarpur BG hill Section to Silchar to commence its journey tomorrow, people of the entire Badarpur Railway Junction area are waiting to give the train a rousing welcome and at the newly-constructed Badarpur Railway BG Station building.

All sections of people of Badarpur, the Railway employees, the workers, the Railway unions and other bodies, and the people of the Greater Badarpur Railway colonies are extremely happy at the development and colourful programmes have been chalked out at the Badarpur railway station for the occasion.

The Rail Division Implementation Demand Committee�s (BRDIDC) general secretary Sukumar Ghosh told this correspondent that �they are ready to give a colourful welcome to the BG passenger trains at Badarpur Railway station, with various cultural programmes.�

It may be mentioned that in the 210 km-long-BG route from Lumding-Badarpur hill section to Silchar, there are 28 crossing stations, four halt stations and 21 tunnels (the longest is the 3235 metre-long tunnel No 9). In this section, Silchar, Arunachal, Harangajao, New-Haflong, Lumding and Badarpur have been identified as the major railway stations.
