BG train service shortly from Agartala

By Correspondent

AGARTALA, April 1 - If everything falls in right place, the BG train service would be commencing from Agartala by middle of April, according to sources in NF Railway.

However, it all depends on the report of Commissioner of Railway Safety (CRS) SK Pathak.

Pathak has already completed safety inspection in the 225 km newly-built BG trail track from Agartala to Badarpur. During the five-day inspection, the CRS did not find any major fault in the newly-constructed BG rail track from Agartala to Kumarghat and Kumarghat to Badarpur.

After completing the inspection, the CRS had himself declared the Agartala-Kumarghat BG track as safe. Sources said, the same was his view after inspecting the Kumarghat-Badarpur section.

Although there is no major fault in the track, the CRS has identified some loopholes in the track and stations which are needed to be rectified on urgent basis, said a senior NFR official here on Friday.

He said the train service would begin by second or third week of April.

The State Government has already demanded superfast trains like Rajdhani connecting Agartala with all major cities Kolkata, Delhi and Mumbai.

Initially, there might not be superfast train from Agartala station but before Durga Puja, the people of the State could get a major bonanza from the Railways, he added.
