AGARTALA, Jan 3 - Setting aside all speculations, NF Railway Chief Engineer (Construction) Harpal Singh today said BG railhead would be brought to Agartala railway station on January 13, an yet another milestone in Tripuras BG conversion work.

After a review meeting with State Transport Minister Manik Dey in laters office at Civil Secretariat here on Sunday, the Chief Engineer told the media that the BG conversion work is going on as per schedule.

We are planning to bring BG railhead upto Agartala on January 13, he said. On December 29, a BG railhead touched the States soil. But it had to halt at Ambassa because BG track is not ready for running of BG rail track upto Agartala.

On being asked about the problem at Teliamura, the CE said the problem was settled as a Road Under Bridge (RUB) has already been constructed. Giving more details on the railway works, Singh said the NFR plans to run goods train upto Udaipur by March itself because passenger train could not be introduced before CRS clearance.

However, there are reports, the NFR authority would approach the CRS to conduct inspection on the newly built BG track in last part of February.

As per an estimation, it may take 14 hours to reach Guwahati from Agartala.

Later, the Transport Minister said he had a review meeting with NFR Chief Engineer to take a note of the ongoing BG conversion work. The NFR is planning to complete BG conversion work upto Agartala by March 31, this year. I have requested the CE to take the BG railhead to Bishalgarh via Agartala station on January 13, he said.

On the status of railway extension work upto Sabroom, Dey said some problems came on the way of cutting trees. The NFR official met Forest Minister Naresh Jamatia over the issue. The problem will be sorted out very shortly, he added.
