GAURIPUR, April 17 - Besma, the biggest festival of the Rajbangshi community, was celebrated on the premises of the Golakganj development block with three-day colourful programme April 15 to 17.
On the first day of the programme, the Besma flag was hoisted by Surajit Ray, president of the celebration committee. It was followed by smriti tarpan.
A number of competitions were organised where several people took part. Competitions on Goalparia folk dance and folk song were participated by hundreds of people of all communities. The souvenir, Kajal Bhomora, was released on the occasion. The meeting was chaired by Surajit Ray and was attended by a host of dignitaries of the community.
All the dignitaries were felicitated by the celebration committee with traditional yellow gamosa. A cultural evening was also organised and participated by a large number young singers of the area.
