Bengali play Santaap staged

GUWAHATI, March 16 - Bengali play Santaap, directed by Sandip Bhattacharya, was staged at the Madhavdev International Auditorium, Srimanta Sankaradeva Kalakshetra here today.

The play focuses on the plight of the eunuchs who are born in the regular human society, but are prohibited from being reared by it, how a defect by birth seizes them from their mother�s lap, family life and deports them from love, sympathy and compassion forever.

Well-known dancer and choreographer Nrityacharya Jatin Goswami attended today�s Master Class series at the Theatre Olympics currently on at the Srimanta Sankaradeva Kalakshetra.

Tomorrow the Theatre Olympics will see the bilingual staging of Antigone in Hindi and English. The play, directed by Rajan Khatiwada, is a world famous tragedy by the ancient Greek playwright Sophocles. It deals with the theme of civil disobedience, fidelity and human wisdom.
