Belgian envoy interacts with IIE students

JALUKBARI, March 9 - Mr Jan Luykx, Belgian Ambassador to India visited the Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship (IIE) here yesterday. During his visit he interacted with entrepreneurs, social workers, faculties, employees and students.

This is the first IIE visit by a representative from Belgium. The purpose of his visit was to explore and learn the best practices and to look for possibilities of cooperation between Belgium and the north-eastern region of India.

In his address to the gathering, Mr Luykx highlighted sectors like economy, human resources and entrepreneurial skills. He observed that there is a huge potential for exploitation of natural and human resources in the region. He also highlighted that growth of the economy depends mainly on entrepreneurial drive. In this context he added that Belgium was the first country in Europe to have industrial revolution.

Belgium capitalised on its central geographic location and the country is highly developed in transportation sector, diversified industry and commercial establishment.

Manoj K Das, Director, IIE in his inaugural speech welcomed the Belgian Ambassador and thanked the guest for choosing IIE on his first visit to the region.

Biswajeet Chakravarty from FICCI made a presentation on the advantages of the NE states. Mr AK Baruah, AO, IIE, highlighted the activities and major roles of IIE with a presentation.
